Edgar Rice Burroughs (ur. 1 września 1875 w Chicago, zm. 19 marca 1950 w Los Angeles) – amerykański pisarz, twórca cykli książek o przygodach Tarzana wśród małp, Johna Cartera na Marsie i innych.

Zdecydowałem się dodać tego autora w dziale fantastyka, gdyż znam go wyłącznie z Cyklu o Marsie, a ponadto mimo, iż nie wyłącznie to jednak przeważająco Edgar Rice Burroughs tworzył w tym nurcie. Miałem okazję przeczytać Księżniczkę Marsa oraz Bogów Marsa będących jej kontynuacją. Mimo, iż styl nie jest porywający i nie są to bardzo rozbudowane powieści, a raczej krótkie przygodowe historie to jednak czytałem je z przyjemnością.  Dodatkowym plusem dla mnie jest to, że są to ksiązki powstałe ponad sto lat temu, a więc są owocem wyobraźni człowieka żyjącego w zupełnie innych czasach.
